Another roofing project completed by Kastel Roofing in Mabutho, Lower Rangemore, Bulawayo.
This project involved the construction and installation of a full timber roof truss system, followed by the installation of Double Roman roofing tiles.
The house has a large and fairly complex roof design, with several hips, valleys and intersecting roof sections. Getting a roof like this right starts long before the first tile is laid. The timber structure has to be properly set out so that the roof lines meet correctly and the finished roof remains straight and balanced.
From Timber Trusses to the Finished Roof
We started by constructing and installing the timber roof structure. The trusses, rafters and battens were carefully positioned to create the required roof shape and provide a strong base for the tiles.
Once the timber work was complete, our roofing team moved on to the Double Roman tile installation.
Double Roman tiles remain a popular choice for residential roofing in Bulawayo and across Zimbabwe. Their distinctive profile works particularly well on larger homes and gives the finished building a solid, traditional appearance.
On this project, special attention was given to the hips, ridges and valleys. These areas are critical because poor workmanship around roof junctions can become a common source of leaks later.
The aerial view of the completed roof shows the final result clearly. The different roof sections come together neatly, with clean hip and ridge lines across the building.
